Landscape Lighting Design

The right outdoor lighting makes your home safer and more secure, and it lets you enjoy your outdoor spaces long after the sun goes down. A good lighting plan incorporates a variety of fixtures and lighting types while taking the home's landscaping and available power sources into consideration.

Lighting techniques we use

  • Highlighting — a spotlight at the base of a feature, angled to create the perfect amount of illumination.
  • Silhouetting — a spotlight behind a feature aimed at an adjacent wall, creating an illuminated backdrop.
  • Shadowing — similar to silhouetting, but tuned for a softer shadow from open, delicate trees.
  • Wall-washing — an even, soothing light across a wall from a fixture set a few feet away at a sideways angle.

Safety, security and hours you get back

Lit steps, walkways and grade changes remove the everyday hazards in a yard, and a well-lit property is far less inviting to anyone who shouldn't be there. Just as importantly, lighting turns a patio you use three months a year into one you use most of the year.
